Elegant, yet practical French doors truly make a statement. They bring the outside in, with just a turn of a lock and a push of a handle, meaning that you get the best of both worlds. You can enjoy your garden all year round, whilst snuggled on the sofa on a cold winter’s day, or open the doors to allow the warm summer breeze into your home. They really do allow you to have a unique view on the changing seasons, you are a part of your garden all year, meaning that you can watch the seasons fade into each other, golden reds fade to crisp winters; fresh greens of spring through to the azure blue of summer.
So why not curl up and watch the world through a beautiful set of French doors?
Our French doors are available in almost any style of door and frame configuration, this allows our customers the freedom to design their own or match an existing style. Our range of French doors are available either opening inwards or outwards, with a low line stormguard threshold fitted as standard to comply with mobility regulations, full height glass or raised and fielded panels, traditional or mock Georgian bars. Manufactured to accept standard butt hinges or parliament hinges, with the option of fiction hinge restrictors if required. You can choose from a range of fittings, glazing units or timber panels. TimberPlus have a wide range of profile options with the flexibility to match into your existing design.
These hand-crafted doors are made from the highest quality sustainable timbers. We only purchase timber from suppliers who offer FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified products. We also insist on using completely solid timber (not engineered or veneered components). Whilst we are able to offer any timber legally available in this country, we predominantly use Sapele hardwood, with its fine-knit grain giving good durability for external joinery use; and joinery grade European redwood, which has fewer knots than some lesser grades of softwood.
The range of hardware used as standard, offers a very high level of security for our French doors, with added security features available should you require them. Please ask one of our team at the point of preparing your quote, to ensure that we can meet or surpass your requirements.
At TimberPlus, we are so confident in the quality of finish of all our joinery items, that we don’t feel the need to ‘cover-up’ our workmanship with a paint or stain finish. We therefore, leave all of our items in the raw timber state as standard, whether they be in hardwood or softwood. That said, we also understand that some of you would prefer to leave the finishing to experts, which is why we are able to offer you a range of finishes from just priming through to full factory spray finish and factory glazing in your choice of colour(s) as an added extra, giving you peace of mind that all you are left to do is fix the window in place. Please note: if you are upgrading to a full factory finish including pre-glazing, we advise you to make sure this will not cause difficulty when it comes to fitting your windows (see our guide on installing timber windows).
