Harking back to a time when conservatories were the privilege of palaces and stately homes, the Georgian Conservatory is a marriage of simple lines and high vaulting roof panes which allow the light to flood in. This style of conservatory will compliment any style of house, from the modern Georgian townhouse to the gardens of a country cottage.
When designing your conservatory there are many options you need to consider, such as whether you want the conservatory to have a dwarf wall, whether you want glass panels all the way to the ground. The opening windows, what sort of style do you want? Will the windows be hung from the top and swing out from the bottom, or will the frames be hung from the side. Then you need to think about your doors, and access into the conservatory, are you going for the ultimate in wow factor with the bi-folding doors, or the classically styled French doors?
These handcrafted windows are made from the highest quality sustainable timbers. We only purchase timber from suppliers who offer FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified products. We also insist on using completely solid timber (not engineered or veneered components). Whilst we are able to offer any timber legally available in this country, we predominantly use Sapele hardwood, with its fine-knit grain giving good durability for external joinery use; and joinery grade European redwood, which has fewer knots than some lesser grades of softwood.
Our high performance windows have undergone and passed rigorous testing in accordance with BS7412: Air and water permeability requirements. The results showed that the windows exceeded the level of resistance required by the test, ensuring that they can more than adequately cope with anything the British weather might throw at them. The range of ironmongery we use as standard at TimberPlus, offers a very high level of security for our high performance flush casements, with added security features available should you require them. Please ask one of our team at the point of preparing your quote, to ensure that we can meet or surpass your requirements. Our high performance windows have undergone testing in accordance with PAS24:2012 (known formerly as BS7950) : enhanced security requirements for doorsets and windows in the UK. We passed the standards set whilst using our standard ironmongery. For further information on our test results, please click here.
At TimberPlus, we are so confident in the quality of finish of all our joinery items, that we don’t feel the need to ‘cover-up’ our workmanship with a paint or stain finish. We therefore, leave all of our items in the raw timber state as standard, whether they be in hardwood or softwood. That said, we also understand that some of you would prefer to leave the finishing to experts, which is why we are able to offer you a range of finishes from just priming through to full factory spray finish and factory glazing in your choice of colour(s) as an added extra, giving you peace of mind that all you are left to do is fix the window in place. Please note: if you are upgrading to a full factory finish including pre-glazing, we advise you to make sure this will not cause difficulty when it comes to fitting your windows (see our guide on installing timber windows).
